TALENT SHOW
Gwyneth Paltrow, who seems to have the uncanny ability to be everywhere at once these days, made another trek down the red carpet Sunday night at the premiere of “The Talented Mr. Ripley” in Hollywood.
Anthony Minghella was on hand to celebrate his first film since “The English Patient” — as were his stars Paltrow, Jude Law, Matt Damon and Cate Blanchett.
Damon had replaced the corduroy jacket he wears throughout the film with an Armani suit.
“I wore that jacket every day for about six months, and I think I’ve had it,” he said.
Blanchett identified the girdle as her favorite Fifties wardrobe item from the film.
“It does a great thing for a woman’s figure,” she said.
“It does a great thing for a boy’s figure too,” added director Anthony Minghella.
During the shooting, while others indulged in the pleasures of Italian cooking, Matt Damon, who lost 25 pounds for his starring role, was dieting in his room — “on steamed chicken breast,” according to Paltrow.
Paltrow, who looked reed-thin and was shivering in her back-baring Versace silk sheath, sympathized with her weight-watching co-stars.
“It’s no way to spend six months in Italy.”
