ANNE KLEIN NAMES SLOSS LICENSE CHIEF
NEW YORK — Kasper ASL Ltd. named Merle Sloss president of Anne Klein Licensing on Monday.
Sloss, who was president of Ralph Lauren Footwear, a division of Rockport, had been president of licensing for Anne Klein from 1995 to 1996. She will be responsible for the management of 22 existing licensees for the trademarks Anne Klein, Anne Klein II and A Line Anne Klein, which were acquired by Kasper in July.
Kasper also named Carrie Dawes as senior vice president of merchandising of its Anne Klein division. She was also formerly employed by Anne Klein and was most recently executive vice president of apparel at Esprit de Corp in San Francisco since 1996. Dawes will be responsible for merchandising all Anne Klein apparel brands, including the launch of Anne Klein II in the better sportswear market for fall 2000.
“Both individuals bring valuable industry knowledge to our organization having had previous experience working at Anne Klein,” said Arthur S. Levine, chairman and chief executive officer of Kasper, in in a statement.
Sloss, who will report to Levine, also previously held posts as president and ceo of Bally of Switzerland from 1992 to 1993 and was a consultant to Gucci Group. She replaces Barbara J. Friedman, who became president of Liz Claiborne licensing in August.
Dawes’s prior experience included merchandising posts for Guess and A Line Anne Klein. In her newly created position, she reports to Wendy Chivian, president of Anne Klein Apparel.
