NEW YORK — Barneys New York has promoted Maree Lavo to divisional merchandise manager of cosmetics, succeeding Heidi Man-heimer, who is leaving the specialty chain this week to participate in Blue Mercury, a startup based in Washington.
Manheimer, who is also a vice president of Barneys, would not give details of the venture.
Lavo joined Barneys in 1993 and has held a variety of positions, most recently senior buyer of cosmetics. Prior to Barneys, she was Northeast regional account executive for Chanel cosmetics for 11 years.
Barneys plans to expand its cosmetics presentation by setting up shops for Fresh and Poppy on the new eighth floor of the Co-op department, opening in December.
The main-floor cosmetics department at Barneys is driven by makeup artist cosmetic lines, such as Nars, Stila and Kiehl’s.
