COSTUME INSTITUTE SETS CHANEL SHOW
NEW YORK — The house of Chanel will be the subject of next December’s Costume Institute gala and an exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art here.
“We think it will be a very dynamic exhibit and a major draw,” Arie Kopelman, president and chief operating officer of Chanel Inc., said Thursday. “We’re very excited about it. It’ll be a real international effort.”
Chanel has been widely rumored to be the sponsor of next year’s gala since December 1998.
Kopelman had few details to share, but said designer Karl Lagerfeld would be involved. The current exhibit, which went on view this week, is called “Rock Style.”
