NEW YORK — Patagonia plans to open a 4,600-square-foot store at 426 Columbus Avenue, between West 81st and West 82nd Streets, across from the American Museum of Natural History, at the end of the month.
Built originally in 1898 for $12,000, the red-brick building housing the new store is being restored to resemble its original appearance, a Patagonia spokeswoman said. The store will be the company’s 12th in the U.S., she said.
Women’s, men’s and children’s activewear, outerwear, accessories and footwear as well as luggage will be offered in the two-floor store. Technical products designed for such outdoor activities as mountaineering, kayaking and skiing will comprise the bulk of the merchandise.
