EYE SCOOP

Let the games begin! New York’s fall season kicks off with a rush of sexy parties this week. Wednesday night, Stella McCartney’s bash at the Chloe boutique on Madison Avenue is shaping up to be the unofficial pre-party for Thursday night’s MTV Music Awards at the Metropolitan Opera House. Madonna, Donatella Versace, Quincy Jones, George Michael, Kate Moss, Rupert Everett and, of course, Stella’s father, Paul McCartney, are expected at the party and a dinner for 50 afterward at Serena’s in The Chelsea Hotel.
The same night, yet another French designer, Gilles Dufour, will be presenting his debut collection for Balmain during a cocktail party at Saks Fifth Avenue hosted by Philip B. Miller.

Paris is in a food frenzy. Reports have emerged that chef Alain Ducasse might be moved from his three-star restaurant, Hotel du Parc, on the Avenue Raymond Poincare. Just as it did under its previous chef, Joel Robuchon, Hotel du Parc is losing money — about $650,000 a year, according to Le Figaro. As a result, the Accor group — which recently bought the restaurant — is reportedly encouraging Ducasse to leave for the kitchen at Accor’s other restaurant, Pavillon Ledoyen, on the Champs-Elysees. But there’s a wrinkle: Robuchon is said to be coming out of retirement and also wants to set up at Ledoyen. Through a spokesman, Ducasse said that nothing was changing. Robuchon was unavailable for comment and Accor declined comment.
