HILLARY CLINTON TO ATTEND SAKS’ BREAST CANCER BENEFIT TONIGHT
NEW YORK — More than 100 designers, including Calvin Klein and Donna Karan, have confirmed they will attend tonight’s Fashion Targets Breast Cancer benefit at Saks Fifth Avenue.
Now add Hillary Rodham Clinton to the list.
“She will be dropping by the event for a few minutes because of the connection to breast cancer research,” said Capricia Marshall, the White House social secretary. “That’s one of her main issues.”
The store will be open for a private shopping night for select customers.
R. Brad Martin, chairman and chief executive officer of Saks Inc.; Philip Miller, chairman, ceo and top merchant of Saks Fifth Avenue, and Tina Johnson, vice chairman and chief operating officer of Saks, are scheduled to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange today at 4 p.m.
They are to be accompanied by five models from the Next agency, according to a spokeswoman for the store.
More than 5,000 people are expected to attend tonight’s event; Saks will donate 2 percent of the evening’s sales to the cause.
