NEIMARK AND GOODMAN JOINING FASHION500.COM STARTING LINEUP
NEW YORK — A web site that’s being developed for selling fashion, Fashion500.com, has recruited Ira Neimark and Edwin Goodman to the team.
Ira Neimark is a retired chairman and chief executive of Bergdorf Goodman, and Edwin Goodman is chairman of the Fashion Institute of Technology and a descendent of the Goodman family that founded Bergdorf’s.
Neimark said Wednesday he was an adviser to Fashion 500.com. He declined to comment on who was investing in the startup site or what brands it might sell. However, he did say Fashion500.com was a concept for selling luxury apparel and accessories brands.
Neimark is a director of Hermes of Paris, a board member of the Fashion Institute of Technology Foundation and an adviser to Mitsukoshi Department Stores in Japan and Modi Enterprises in India.
Goodman, a venture capitalist and founding investor in the Staples and Petsmart chains, has been appointed chairman of Fashion500.com.
According to a statement from the startup site, Michael Bereck, formerly general managing partner of Rockville Krupp, an investment company, is ceo of Fashion500.com.
He was also described as the founder and creator of Fashion500.com, with Sherry Jetter, former in-house council for The Donna Karan Co. Jetter is president and general council of Fashion500.com.
According to a spokeswoman, the site is expected to go live in late November.
