THE RELAXED RITZ
Byline: Anita J. Finkelstein
Going barefoot at the Ritz-Carlton? It may seem unusual at a five-star hotel, but at the beachfront Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Fla., bare feet are the norm, even at its two beachside restaurants, Gumbo Limbo and The Beach Pavilion.
Perched right on the Gulf of Mexico, the hotel has all the expected Ritz-Carlton signatures, but with a more relaxed ambience. There are 463 rooms with a view, 20 acres of beachfront, eight dining options and a full Ritz Kids program. Tennis courts, sail boats, bikes and golf course access are also available.
But best of all is the price. The Ritz is running a 1998 summer special. Through Sept. 30, a Gulf-view room costs a mere $139 per night from Sunday through Wednesday nights and $199 on other days. Just imagine sipping a daiquiri while watching the sunset — all in your bare feet, of course.
