INDUSTRY LENDS A HAND
The California Fashion Association, which recently merged with the Coalition of Apparel Industries in California, announced it has established a nonprofit foundation named the CFA Foundation for Community Development.
The foundation will offer health care for apparel industry employees, child care for students in inner-city schools and clothing for children.
The day care pilot program will begin with Los Angeles Elementary School in the Pico-Union area.
The CFA will also provide clothing for Operation School Bell through direct donations from manufacturers’ stock and by making items for uniforms.
Donations have already been made by Security Textiles, Little Laura, Great Escape, Platinum, Karen Kane, Knit Works, Barbara Lesser, Design Collection and Jimmy Z.
