RETAIL ISSUES DIP A BIT WITH DOW
NEW YORK — The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 87.44 points Wednesday to close at 8803.80, with a number of retail stocks getting shaved.
Decliners included Sears, Roebuck, off 1 9/16 to 61 5/16; Nordstrom, down 1 7/8 to 71 1/2; Ross Stores, 1 5/8 to 42 7/8; Gap Inc., 15/16, to 54 1/8; Federated Department Stores, 15/16 to 51 7/16; Limited Inc., 15/16 to 31 7/8; Wal-Mart Stores, 15/16 to 56, and Kmart, 13/16 to 19 1/8.
Notable gainers were Talbots, up 1 to 28 3/8, and Neiman Marcus Group, up 1/2 to 34 15/16.
Among manufacturers, Gucci was up 1 1/8 to 48, and Jones Apparel Group gained 7/16 to 65 5/8, while VF Corp. was off 13/16 to 52 13/16.
