COACH CONFIRMS APPOINTMENT OF DEMATTEI AS RETAIL PRESIDENT
NEW YORK — Dave DeMattei, who resigned as president of the J. Crew catalog and specialty store business last week, was named president of the retail division of Coach.
This confirms a report in these pages on page 3, May 28.
DeMattei will oversee the day-to-day operations of 167 Coach stores in the U.S. and Europe. His responsibilities will include real estate, operations, inventory management and merchandising. He will also direct the company’s retail growth. He will begin his new job July 1.
DeMattei had been president of J. Crew’s catalog and retail business since June 1995. He began his career at the Gap in 1983. He was chief financial officer from 1989 to 1993, until heading up Banana Republic, a Gap division. He left in 1994 and did some consulting work before joining J. Crew.
DeMattei will report to Lew Frankfort, Coach’s chairman and chief executive officer.
