NEW YORK — Richard Davis, director of merchandising for Ge-Ray Fabrics and a 40-year veteran of the textile industry, died April 5. He was 61.
Davis died after suffering a heart attack while attending a wedding, according to Dean Starker, a merchandiser at Ge-Ray.
Davis had been with Ge-Ray since 1994. Prior to that, he was with Edmos, a vertical knitter, and Watch Hill Fabrics, a converter.
He had also operated R.M. Davis, his own knit converting business.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; four sons, Richard Jr., director of research and development at Charbert Fabrics; Chris, a sales representative for Ge-Ray; Thomas, and Robert; and two daughters, Deirdre, and Michelle Madden.
Services will be held today at 10:15 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, 110-06 Queens Boulevard, Forest Hills, N.Y.
