ANNE KLEIN OPENING LARGE-SIZE LINE
NEW YORK — Anne Klein will launch a plus-size bridge line for fall 1997 selling under the label Anne Klein Plus.
It’s the latest in a series of moves by the sportswear company here — including the recent hiring of Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco, the designers of the successful Emanuel bridge line, as well as Marie Lovallo, one of its top product development executives — to invigorate business.
Anne Klein has had a petite bridge line since 1987 under the label Anne Klein II Petites.
The new label, which is expected to do about $10 million in wholesale sales for the first year, will use the same fabrics, colors, prints and styles as the misses’ and petites line. It will follow the same distribution of better department stores and specialty stores.
The new business will be overseen by Wendy Chivian, who has been named senior vice president of sales for all Anne Klein divisions. She held the same title for Anne Klein II, but will now oversee the petite and large-size divisions in addition to misses’. Susan Jones, vice president of sales for Anne Klein II special sizes, will also be overseeing the line.
In other Anne Klein news, Kim McLaren has been named senior vice president of merchandising for all Anne Klein labels.
