SEARS APPOINTS TOWERS TO VP POST
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Sears, Roebuck & Co. has named Michael J. Tower vice president of corporate strategy, a new post.
Prior to joining Sears, Tower, 38, was a partner and vice president of A.T. Kearney, Chicago-based consultants, where he counted Sears as a client. Tower had worked for A.T. Kearney since 1987.
“Clearly, we have a two-pronged expansion plan: continuing to renovate and add mall stores, but also growing the off-the-mall part of the business,” a Sears spokesman said Monday. “Michael Tower will be involved in all stages of strategic planning as we continue to implement our growth.”
“Mike has already made a significant contribution to Sears’ success through his involvement in our strategic sourcing and organization realignments over the last few years as a consultant to us,” said Alan J. Lacy, Sears executive vice president and chief financial officer, in a statement. Tower reports to Lacy.
From 1981 to 1985, Tower worked for Arthur Anderson & Co. in the Small Business Group, now known as the Commercial Group.
