TINY SECRETS
So, how did Isaac Mizrahi get so thin?
“Starvation and swimming, basically,” the designer said to a crowd of fashion faithfuls at Bergdorf Goodman last week.
Between diet tips, the designer narrated a show of his new high-price division, Tiny Label, at the first of a series of evening events the store is calling “Cocktails and Commentary.”
But even though the evening’s host, New York Observer columnist William Norwich, had prepared a handful of questions for Mizrahi, it was the front-row cheers of Nina Griscom, Cari Modine, Sandy Pittman, Patty Raynes and Bergdorf’s president Dawn Mello that really boosted Mizrahi’s ego.
“Oooh, these are to die. To die,” said Griscom of a pair of sheer beaded pants.
“Yes, Nina, those are for you,” Mizrahi said. “They say ‘Food Network’ all over them.”
A few nights later in Los Angeles, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Laura Dern did the Hollywood hustle with David Arquette and other cast members at the premiere of “Johns.” In the film, Arquette and co-star Lukas Haas portray two hustlers trying to make do on the streets of L.A.
Arquette was delighted by all the praise for his performance, but was happy to reveal his secret.
“All you do is go out on the street and shake it,” Arquette said.
