AROUND THE RUNWAYS
Cynthia Steffe’s sleek leather blazers and sheer tunics over pinstriped pants looked cool, but forget the fur-trimmed neoprene coats. The Girls Rule junior label show covered all the bases with snowboarding gear, stretch denim dresses and pretty little sweater sets. Good meat-and-potatoes basics in tweed, herringbone and velvet at Jussara, but skip the cheap-looking sequined numbers. Rebecca Danenberg’s collection — usually so hip and sexy — didn’t live up to her reputation.
Not even a soundtrack featuring the second Mrs. Trump could detract from the luxurious shearling coats and cashmere sweaters at Joan Vass. Fun knitwear, jaunty tweed coats and matte jersey dresses were the highlights of Easel’s short and sweet show. Roxy by Quiksilver delivered the junior goods: colorful board shorts, cargo-pocket pants and those trusty logo T-shirts.
