KAHN DINNER REAPS $2 MILLION FOR AJC
NEW YORK — In its “biggest human relations fund-raiser ever,” the American Jewish Committee raised $2 million last Thursday, at a black-tie dinner honoring Hal Kahn, Macy’s East chairman and chief executive officer.
The event, held at the New York Hilton, drew a crowd of 1,400.
“Hal Kahn is one of the industry’s great entrepreneurial executives and a stand-up guy that goes to bat for many worthwhile causes,” said Robert Rifkind, AJC president, who announced the evening’s record take. The dinner’s honorary chairman, Tommy Hilfiger, together with Rifkind, presented Kahn with the committee’s National Human Relations Award, which recognizes individuals who have attained leadership roles and contribute to communities through civic affairs and philanthropic endeavors.
