SOME RETAILERS ON DJIA RIDE TO 7,000
NEW YORK — The stock market continued its rampage Thursday, easily smashing through the 7,000 mark on the Dow Jones Industrials with a 60.81-point gain to 7022.44.
The jump lifted the Dow 261 points in the last three sessions. Retail and apparel stocks mainly showed fractional gains.
Ann Taylor Stores, however, jumped a full point to 20 5/8, Kohl’s ran up 2 1/8 to 46 and Sears, Roebuck added 3/4 to 53 3/4. In the apparel group, Warnaco, which has been climbing steadily over the past couple of weeks, added 3/4 to close at 30 1/2.
