KARAN, DESIGNER HOLDINGS CONTINUING NEGOTIATIONS
LAS VEGAS — The fate of the DKNY Jeans deal remains uncertain.
Executives from Donna Karan International and Designer Holdings failed to conclude their negotiations at the MAGIC International show here to resolve the difficulties that arose between the two companies in recent weeks. The parties have yet to make a statement about what the difficulties involve.
Stephen Ruzow, president and chief operating officer of Donna Karan, left Las Vegas Wednesday afternoon without coming to a resolution with Arnold Simon, chief executive officer of Designer Holdings, which signed its jeanswear deal with Karan Sept. 30. A formal statement had been expected Wednesday, but he and Simon declined to comment further.
Meanwhile, retailers continued to inspect samples from the DKNY Jeans line, which is housed in a large booth in the MAGIC show’s Designer Pavilion here.
Designer Holdings also manufactures the CK Calvin Klein jeanswear lines.
