NEW YORK — Escada is considering relocating its 57th Street flagship.
The store, at 7 East 57th Street, is scheduled to undergo a major renovation this year, but Escada is now examining a move to larger quarters and has hired a real estate firm to market the property.
“We have looked at what it might mean to sublease our store. However, no decision has been made,” said a source at Escada. “We may move onto another avenue for bigger and better space. Both Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue are being looked at. There are about five locations [under consideration]. The move is not about downsizing. It’s about upsizing. With all our new brands and our growth, we may need a more properly structured space in terms of size and configurement.”
Escada’s product range has expanded in recent years to include Escada Couture event dressing, Escada Knits and Escada Classic Elements, as well as accessories and shoes.
