ENK SETS DESIGNER AWARDS
NEW YORK — Coinciding with its 10th anniversary, the Accessorie Circuit trade show is honoring accessories designers with a special award, TEN, an acronym for “thought, excellence and newness.”
The 10 TEN winners will be chosen from those designers on the Accessorie Circuit roster of exhibitors, which numbers about 300, according to a spokeswoman for the group. Submissions for award consideration should be delivered to ENK Productions, organizer of the show, by Wednesday. Designers should submit one item from their fall collection. The pieces will be judged on April 15 by a panel of editors and retailers.
The work of the winners will be showcased in a specially dedicated area during the upcoming Accessorie Circuit trade show, which will be held May 3-5 at the Show Piers on the Hudson River at 55th Street.
Elyse Kroll, president of ENK and executive director of Accessorie Circuit, said she is not sure whether the TEN awards will become an annual event or not.
“I’m going to let it run its course and see what happens. If it merits or warrants continuance, we will continue it,” she said.
The upcoming Accessorie Circuit will also have an international accent.
Some Parisian designers will be showing under the banner of “The French Accessory Creations.” A group from Milan will be featured in a “Moda, Made in Italy” section.
