NEW YORK — This is a big week for Akris.
The Swiss ready-to-wear house is opening an in-store shop on the fourth floor of Bergdorf Goodman here today, and on Wednesday it will open a free-standing boutique in Boston, its first in the U.S.
The line has been sold at Bergdorf’s and other U.S. specialty stores for many years.
The 5,000-square-foot Boston store is at 16 Newbury Street, formerly the home of retailer Charles Sumner, which closed last year after 50 years in business.
Albert Kriemler, Akris’s designer and president, will be on hand to christen the Bergdorf’s shop today and will host a gala opening Wednesday night in Boston.
