FISHER DELAYING BRIDGE LINE DEBUT UNTIL SPRING ’98

NEW YORK — Eileen Fisher, a contemporary-price sportswear designer, has postponed the fall launch of a bridge-price label, Eileen Fisher Collection, to spring ’98. It is now slated to hit stores next January.
“Eileen decided that she needed more time, and she just did not want to rush into a fall launch,” said a spokeswoman.
Fisher’s current wholesale business is about $54 million, and her retail operation posted sales of $19 million from its 12 stores.
