BOX OFFICE GROSSE
Bruce Beresford’s new prisoner of war epic, “Paradise Road,” might be harrowing, but you couldn’t tell from the way the cast was whooping it up at the Samuel Goldwyn
Theater in Beverly Hills.
“It was great to be able to wear shoes comfortable enough to hang out in all night,” said Frances McDormand about the brown leather slides she had on with her Helmut Lang satin jacket and Jil Sander pants.
After the screening, she and co-stars Glenn Close,
Julianna Margulies and Marta Dusseldorp reconvened at Saks Fifth Avenue, where McDormand had an impromptu meeting with her agents in the middle of the Hush Puppies display.
On Monday night, Joe Roth, Alan Arkin, Drew Barrymore, Samantha Mathis and a handful of Cusacks, including John, Joan and Bill, turned out for the premiere of John Cusack’s new comedy “Grosse Pointe Blank” at Westwood’s Crest Theater.
“I’m going to marry them all, one at a time,” said Minnie Driver about her co-stars, the Cusack men.
Tugging self-consciously on the bodice of her metallic Gucci dress, Driver was hanging onto Bill Cusack’s arm as if she were going to fall off her stilettos. High heels or not, the actress is something of a tomboy, claimed Cusack, who played basketball with her during filming.
“She doesn’t play like a girl at all,” he added.
