PERSIC TAPPED FOR HANES VP POST
NEW YORK — Joan Persic has joined Hanes Hosiery, a unit of Sara Lee Corp., as vice president of sales.
She has assumed some of the responsibilities that were held by Joan Stonitsch, president of the unit, who has resigned.
Stonitsch had joined Hanes Hosiery in April as vice president of sales and was promoted to president in August. Following her promotion, the sales post was not filled. Stonitsch, who earlier was vice president of Prescriptives Cosmetics, a division of Estee Lauder, could not be reached for comment.
Persic most recently was vice president of sales at San Francisco Mercantile Co., San Francisco, maker of Eileen West and Lanz sleepwear. In her new job, she will oversee sales and marketing for Hanes Hosiery and its licensed Donna Karan hosiery. She will divide her time between the company’s offices here and in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Persic reports to Cathy Volker, president of Sara Lee Hosiery U.S.
At San Francisco Mercantile, Larry Solomon, executive vice president of Eileen West and Lanz, has taken over Persic’s former duties. A successor for Persic will not be named, a company spokeswoman said.
Before joining San Francisco Mercantile in 1995, Persic was with Vanity Fair Mills and earlier was vice president and divisional merchandise manager of intimate apparel at Neiman Marcus.
