HEAVEN’S DATE: Victoria’s Secret aims to get a piece of the New York collections fashion week spotlight with a media party Tuesday night celebrating its new bra and panty collection called Angels.
The cocktail party — which Victoria’s Secret promises to be “sheer heaven” — will be held at Laura Belle, a New York City night club, where visuals of the Angels multimillion-dollar advertising campaign will be shown. Herb Ritts photographed the ad campaign.
The Angels line of bras and panties — sheer little nothings manufactured by Bestform Foundations, which makes the long-established Glossies by Lily of France bras — was introduced at Victoria’s Secret stores in March. Top models featured in the ads are expected to attend the soiree: Tyra Banks, Helena Christensen, Karen Mulder, Daniela Pestova and Stephanie Seymour.
Byron Lars has been commissioned to do various outfits for the Angels evening, including bustiers and long and short skirts in the Angels sheer nylon and Lycra spandex fabrics. And in a surprisingly modest mood for the lingerie chain, the clothes will be lined, according to a spokeswoman. There will not be a lingerie fashion show, she said.
Further carrying through on the angelic ambience, singer Tom Jones — who appears in the Angels TV commercial — is expected to make an appearance but don’t look for any bumps or grinds; he won’t be performing, said the spokeswoman.
