From designer suave to street-wise chic, two different style sets haunt the city’s hippest clubs.
At Lola’s Club Roulette, 711 North Wells Street, well-heeled patrons cozy up to the supper club’s banquettes in metropolitan duds. Men in sport jackets and banded-collar shirts mingle with women in sleek flared slacks, slim leathers, short skirts and body-skimming jackets. Hair borders on big, as do cigars and the number of martinis consumed.
But at Funky Buddha Lounge, 728 West Grand Avenue, less-sanctioned looks sway in the dim and groove of this dance spot. Pucci-print halter smocks, neoprene jogging jackets, go-go boots and miniskirts put the funk in Funky Buddha. Hair is less studied, but beer and smokes are big.
