SALTZMAN EXITS POST AT LIMITED
NEW YORK — Ellin Saltzman has left The Limited Inc. as vice president-fashion director of the women’s divisions, the company said.
Saltzman’s post has been eliminated, the company said, as part of the major management changes announced by the firm Jan. 13, headed by the shift of Michael Weiss from corporate chairman to president and chief executive officer of Express. Weiss headed Express successfully until moving to the corporate post in 1993. Since then the chain has been floundering. As corporate vice chairman, Weiss oversaw the fashion direction development.
Saltzman, who has been a fixture in high-fashion retailing, joined The Limited in December 1994 in a move aimed at improving the fashion content of the firm’s various chains. She began her career at Saks Fifth Avenue in 1975 as acting fashion director, moving up to eventually become senior vice president and director of fashion and product development. From 1989 until 1992, she was at R.H. Macy as a senior vice president and corporate fashion director and then went to Bergdorf Goodman, holding a similar post there until June 1994.
Saltzman could not be reached for comment.
