One of the most stylish comics in Paris, Valerie Lemercier — who played the French fashion editor in the remake of “Sabrina” — premiered her own remake of a film classic in Paris this week. Lemercier directed and starred in “Quadrille,” her version of Sacha Guitry’s 1937 original. Even so, she got a little tongue-tied when her fans cheered and shouted, “Go on, say something.”
“Merci,” she squeaked. It was all she could manage before snapping shut her silver evening bag and scuttling off to join beau Bertrand Burgalat and co-stars Sandrine Kiberlain and Sergio Castellitto at the Ritz for the party.
“I never saw the original film,” Lemercier told pals when her tongue finally loosened.
“She should have,” advised one Parisian.
