COOKE JOINS CELINE AS VP OF PURCHASING
PARIS — Arthur Cooke has joined Celine as vice president of purchasing and merchandising for the company’s American and European stores, a new post.
He is based at the French fashion and luxury goods company’s Celine Inc. unit in New York.
Cooke joins Celine from Bergdorf Goodman, where he was the divisional merchandise manager for men’s sportswear, furnishings and accessories.
Prior to Bergdorf’s, Cooke was president of the U.S. arm of Italian leather goods company Portolano from 1991 to 1995, and earlier, he was vice president and creative director for licenses at Calvin Klein.
Cooke began his fashion and retail career at Bergdorf’s in 1977, where he held various management posts before leaving the store in 1989 as divisional merchandise manager for cosmetics, accessories and fine jewelry.
