CASTLEBERRY’S NEW VP: June Fitzgerald has joined Castleberry Knits in the post of vice president for merchandising and design.
In the newly created position, Fitzgerald will be working with the design team to update the line and will also be responsible for the further development of the company’s casual sportswear Knitscapes division.
Fitzgerald reports to Richard C. Conrad, president of Castleberry, an 18-year-old, better-price suit and dress firm based in New York.
In June of this years, Castleberry was purchased from The Leslie Fay Cos. by an investment group that includes Conrad; John Caliolo, who was formerly the director of Leslie Fay’s bankruptcy administration department, who now holds the post of chairman of Castleberry, and Millenium Capital Management.
Fitzgerald was most recently president of Gene Ewing/BIS. Prior to that, she held the position of senior vice president at California Fashion Industries, the maker of Carole Little.
She has also held merchandising and design posts at Bullock’s in Los Angeles and Burdine’s in Miami.
