FRISCO, Tex. — The Cattle Baron’s Ball still might be the biggest western shindig, but folks don’t pour on the glitz as much as they used to.
Long wrap or boot skirts were the order of the evening for women, though some went totally casual with jeans and western shirts, while others dressed up in velvet.
“I never know what to wear to this because it’s hot at the beginning and then by the end of the night you’re cool,” said Jean Prejean. “I guess the thing to do is wear cotton and bring a big shawl.”
The annual benefit for the American Cancer Society, held on the Brinkmann Ranch, was expected to net more than $1 million.
