DALLAS — “Women want easy dressing that’s not too casual, and that’s what I do,” said Melissa Rodriguez, a young designer here offering softly structured ready-to-wear and separates under the label Melissa Anee.
In business about three years, Rodriguez’s collection targets the body-conscious career woman, age 25 to 45. “She likes to be able to use her clothing for a variety of occasions,” explained the designer.
For spring, her 50-piece collection includes frisky short sets, slim pants, wrap skirts, lace tank tops and skirts that stop just above the knee.
“Everything is fitted or tailored in a very easy way,” said Rodriguez, who now works and wholesales from a studio in North Dallas after showing in the mart here for a while.
“My business is still small, and I do better approaching the stores on a more personal basis,” said Rodriguez.
