POLO APPOINTS WILLIAMS TO TOP LICENSING POST
NEW YORK — Doug Williams has been named divisional president of product licensing at Polo Ralph Lauren. He assumes responsibilities formerly handled by John Idol, who left Polo in July to become chief executive officer of Donna Karan International.
Previously, Williams was Polo’s senior vice president of sales for men’s wear. In his new post, he will oversee the designer firm’s existing licensing businesses and pursue growth through new opportunities. He reports to Michael Newman, Polo’s vice chairman.
Williams joined Polo nine years ago as a retail analyst of Polo men’s wear.
