WALTER D. MARX
NEW YORK — Walter D. Marx, 78, a retired executive of Amicale Industries, died Monday at his home in Flushing, N.Y.
He died following a long bout with multiple myeloma, according to an executive with the company.
Services will be held today at 9:30 a.m. at the Schwartz Bros. Funeral Home, 114-03 Queens Boulevard, Forest Hills, N.Y.
Marx was with Amicale all of his career. Born in Germany, Marx came to the the U.S. in 1939. In the U.S. Army, he served in intelligence and was sent back to Germany as a translator. He joined Amicale in 1945 and was with the luxury yarns company for 48 years, retiring in 1993 as vice president in charge of raw material purchasing.
He is survived by his wife, Trude; two sons, Ralph and Daniel; a daughter, Evelyn Abbondandalo; a brother, Paul, and five grandchildren.
