DONALD J. COOPER
NEW YORK — Donald J. Cooper, 79, former chairman of Capital Mercury Shirt Corp., a manufacturer of women’s and men’s shirts, died Thursday at his home in South Orange, N.J.
Cooper apparently died in his sleep. The cause of death had not yet been determined according to Tibor Frankl, controller for the company.
Cooper, along with his late partner, Robert Welsh, started the business here in 1960.
He remained active in the firm until 1991, at which time he retired.
Cooper is survived by his wife, Faye; a son, Richard; a daughter, Arlene; three brothers, Arnold, Raymond and Burton, and three grandchildren.
