NEW YORK — The VICS ’98 Conference, formerly called the IQ Conference, will be held in conjunction with Retail Systems ’98 Conference, June 15-18 in New Orleans.
The name change resulted in part because the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Standards Association (VICS) is the sole sponsor of the event. VICS, based in Washington, D.C., establishes retail supply chain standards, including those for electronic data interchange, floor-ready merchandising guidelines and shipping container labeling.
The show will continue to focus on Quick Response practices, EDI and other technologies that facilitate data sharing among supply chain business partners.
The Retail Systems Alert Group of Newton, Mass., which is organizing the Retail Systems show, noted that the Quick Response show floor will be incorporated into the Retail Systems exhibition.
“Attendees will also have access to [Retail Systems’] retail supply chain exposition, the retail Internet exposition and the systems expo,” said Karen Eaton, a spokeswoman for Retail Systems Alert.
