KAY UNGER, K.G. STUDIO LINES SET TO MAKE ATLANTA DEBUT
ATLANTA — Don Overcast & Associates, a multiline sales firm, is bringing dress lines Kay Unger New York and K.G. Studio here for the first time. The New York-based collections will open at the upcoming spring mart here.
Designer Kay Unger, who for years created the Gillian dress collection, said she wanted representation in the Atlanta Mart because demand for dresses is strong in the South.
“The Southern customer understands dresses, and wears them everywhere,” she said. “They want more options and versatility, such as what we call ‘Dress Plus,’ a dress with a jacket or cardigan.”
At wholesale prices of $110 to $300, the line goes from daytime to evening and includes evening separates, such as pants and cardigans.
The Southeast represents 50 percent of sales for K.G. Studio, a better-priced division spun off from bridge line Kelly Graham last year. The line wholesales for $49 to $79 and features silk and linen blends, rayon hopsack and spun silk in soft pastels and deep jewel tones.
The Atlanta women’s and children’s market, newly renamed AmericasMart, begins its five-day run today.
