CALVIN, RALPH OPT FOR VENUES OTHER THAN CHELSEA PIERS
NEW YORK — Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren will show their spring collections away from the centralized Chelsea Piers fashion week venue.
Klein will stage his spring women’s Collection show Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. at a warehouse space at 450 West 15th Street.
“We’re actually very close to the pier, so unity is secured through using this space,” a Calvin Klein spokesman said Thursday.
The space is the same raw, concrete venue Klein used in July for his men’s runway show and his recent CK Calvin Klein spring presentation. It accommodates 500 to 600 people.
Ralph Lauren will again use his company headquarters at 650 Madison Avenue, sixth floor, to stage runway shows Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. and noon, according to a company spokeswoman.
In other developments, Han Feng, who has typically shown with 7th on Sixth, will instead present her spring collection in her apartment at 50 West 29th Street on Nov. 4 at 3 p.m.
Feng, who has typically seated up to 400 people for her show, will host about 120 in her apartment, according to a spokesman for the designer. Waiters will serve tea during the production.
“Han’s idea was to create her own environment that will be more personable,” the spokesman said. “It has nothing to do with hating any venue at the Piers.”
A spokeswoman for Evgenia Godetskaya also said Thursday that the designer has rescheduled her first solo presentation for Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Sound Studio at the Piers. She had planned to show at the Gallery Nov. 3, but was later able to secure the Sound Studio space.
