LUNCH CROWD

Forget Hurricane Linda and El Nino — Rita Wilson hit Malibu like a tidal wave last week when she hosted a party at her California beach house in aid of Children’s Action Network.
Just hours before her guests arrived last Thursday, Linda caused giant swells to slosh over the oceanfront deck. But the seas calmed and Wilson and her co-hosts — Sally Field, Kate Capshaw and Michelle Pfeiffer — welcomed 150 guests, including Melissa Etheridge, Nora Ephron, Geena Davis and Clarissa Bronfman.
Capshaw was sporting a new, long brown do for her role in “The Locusts.” “Most men like blondes, but Steven actually likes it dark,” she announced, referring to husband Steven Spielberg.
Nearby, Wilson, whose own hubby, Tom Hanks, was off working, stood fingering the long, twisted, fashionably lubed locks of George Clooney’s girlfriend — model and kindergarten teacher Celine Balitran.
“It looks greasy,” Wilson told Balitran. “You’re probably going, ‘I gotta wash it now.’ But it’s cool.”
Naturally, many of the revelers turned up in Armani, including Davis, Capshaw and Field.
“How could I show up otherwise?” said Pfeiffer, with a look of mock horror.
A few nights earlier, the spotlight was on Kim Basinger at the Los Angeles premiere of “L.A. Confidential.”
Her husband, Alec Baldwin, was running a little late because he and Bruce Willis were on the set of “Mercury Rising,” both of them apparently drenched in fake blood.
Said Basinger: “They have to shower.”
