LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
SOME KNITTERS LOVE 807(A)
On behalf of the Knitted Textile Association, I take exception to the article on page 13, March 22 (“U.S. Knitters Blame Loss of Jobs on 807(A) Program”).
The headline suggesting that “U.S. knitters” oppose the 807(A) program not only conveys a mistaken message but is not consistent with the facts in the story, which refers only to knitted garment producers.
The attitude of American knitted fabric producers is quite the contrary: 807(A) has tremendously helped our domestic knitted fabric business. We view 807(A) as helpful in making domestic apparel manufacturers more competitive with the Far East and in combating such imports.
