NEW YORK — Marchon Eyewear is opening its first New York showroom, at 385 Fifth Avenue at East 36th Street.
There the firm will present its licensed CK Calvin Klein, Calvin Klein Collection, Fendi, Alexander Julian optical and sunglasses lines, and Flexon brand sunglasses.
The showroom also will have separate areas for each brand’s ophthalmic frames.
According to Al Berg, co-president of the firm, the showroom is scheduled to open for the January accessories market.
Berg said the move was motivated largely by Marchon’s current worldwide rollout of CK eyewear and the company’s significant push into the branded sunglasses arena.
The showroom, a high-profile space on the building’s 15th floor, has more than 4,000 square feet and three terraces, one that runs the entire length of the space.
Berg said this terrace will be outfitted with awnings and decorated with tables and chairs, creating a comfortable place for buyers.
Each brand will have its own dedicated merchandise area that will be designed to reflect its image.
Marchon, based in Melville, N.Y., started out as an optical firm 13 years ago. The Calvin Klein and Fendi licenses have contributed to its recent success in the sunglasses business.
In addition to its Long Island headquarters, Marchon has a 40,000-square-foot facility in Longerone, Italy, north of Venice, which is used for sales and distribution throughout Europe.
Marchon also has offices in London, Paris, Canada and Mexico.
This month, it is opening a 20,000-square-foot showroom, office and distribution center in Hong Kong to service the Far East.
