DELTA BURKE LICENSES RENLYN TO PRODUCE LARGE-SIZE LINE
NEW YORK — One of the original “Designing Women” is at it again: Delta Burke has licensed Renlyn New York to produce large-size suits under her label.
The collection will open March 1 for fall, and is priced to retail at $180 to $200, according to Richard Elias, president of Renlyn. The suits will run in sizes 14 to 26 and will be made primarily in fabrics of polyester and rayon blends.
Elias projected first-year sales of $2 million to $3 million.
The line will be shown at Renlyn’s showroom at 498 Seventh Ave. here, where the company shows its Renlyn and E.R. Gerard lines, as well as at the Delta Burke Design showroom, at 1407 Broadway, where Burke’s array of licensed collections are shown in coordinated outfits.
Burke, who became well known as interior designer Suzanne Sugarbaker in the television series “Designing Women,” now has nine licenses aimed at plus-size women.
In addition to the Renlyn deal, two other licenses were signed this month: one for belts, with A. Brod Belts, and one for hosiery, with La Leg Hosiery. Burke’s other licensed lines are for dresses, jeans, denim sportswear, knitwear, woven separates and career separates.
