THE TRENDS: Military looks, inspired by conflicts from the Napoleonic wars to Vietnam; high necks and cowls on knitwear, tops and dresses; furnishing and activewear fabrics; burnout velvet and lace.
MODEL UPDATE: Most skipped London for Milan, but Kate Moss appeared at Treacy, Helena Christiansen at Tomasz Starzewski and Kirsten McMenamy at McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and Treacy, where she was bitten by the designer’s dog. But the busiest was Honor Fraser, who also sported a new cropped hairstyle by Sam McKnight.
TOP NOTCH: Starzewski came up with the hottest social ticket with a party at his parent company Asprey’s in Bond Street, which pulled in almost every duchess, countess, lord and lady in town.
NOT PRIME TIME: John Major may end up hosting the party to which nobody came. The prime minister has chosen to hold the London fashion week party at 10 Downing Street next Thursday — but by then all the buyers and press will have gone to Milan.
