TWO ON THE ROAD
LOS ANGELES — Nina Blanchard and Hubert de Givenchy swung through Southern California on separate visits recently and were met by their own versions of The Faithful at each stop.
Givenchy drew the Ladies who Lunch — as well as London designer Zandra Rhodes — for tea at L’Orangerie in West Hollywood. They came to celebrate the opening in Palm Springs of the Givenchy Spa, the old Autry Hotel that was converted to a spa named for the designer.
Blanchard drew the Beautiful People to her book-signing party at the Book Soup Bistro on the Sunset Strip. Guests including Cheryl Tiegs and Susie Coelho, who joked with the modeling maven about the Paris orgy scene described in the beginning of her modeling industry tell-all novel, “The Look.” “What I want to know,” declared former Blanchard top model Verna Cornelius, “is how Nina knows all about that Paris sex stuff.”
