WASHINGTON — Citing scheduling problems, the Labor Department said Thursday that Secretary Robert Reich had to postpone a scheduled press conference via telephone in which he was to urge apparel importers to stop doing business in Burma.
As reported, Reich, according to a draft announcement, was also set to call on consumers to not buy Burma-made apparel, citing widespread concern about human rights violations in the country and ties its garment industry reportedly has to Burma’s military dictatorship.
