SAMS JOINS BENDEL AS DESIGNER BUYER
NEW YORK — Henri Bendel said Tuesday that Shelley Sams, formerly with Bergdorf Goodman, has been named buyer for designer and bridge collections and the Fancy department. The post is a key one, considering Bendel’s plans to roll out more stores and become more aggressive on the designer front. She succeeds Tracey Butler, who left the company.
Sams was the buyer for European and advanced designer collections at Bergdorf’s. She also worked at the department store division of Dayton Hudson Corp. as senior buyer for European and American designers and couture. At Bendel, Sams reports to Teresa Tymoski, vice president and general merchandise manager. Bergdorf’s has not named a successor.
