NEIMAN MARCUS SALES UP 16.4 PERCENT IN FEBRUARY
NEW YORK — Same-store sales at Neiman Marcus Group Inc. jumped 16.4 percent in February, driven by robust business at its Neiman Marcus division.
Neiman’s sales benefited from a shift in promotional activity to February this year from January last year, the company said.
Bergdorf Goodman, another NMG division, reported same-store gains in the high single digits. NM Direct catalog sales increased in the mid-single digits.
A company spokesman noted that the strong sales, registered across the country, were broad based in terms of merchandise. “If this trend continues it will be a very nice spring season for us,” he added.
Total sales in February gained 20.3 percent to $139.4 million from $115.9 million. For the 30-week period ended Feb. 24, same-store sales increased 5 percent and total sales grew 7.4 percent to $1.25 billion. — Fairchild News Service
