NEW YORK — Preparing for its West Coast invasion, Bloomingdale’s has named Michael Lindblad regional vice president of California stores to oversee the merchandising, management and operations of Bloomingdale’s in the state.
As reported, the first five Bloomingdale’s stores in California are scheduled to open in the fall. They will be in the Century City and Beverly Center malls in Los Angeles, Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks, Fashion Island in Newport Beach and Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto. Lindblad is well acquainted with the California retail scene. His last post was regional vice president for 15 Robinsons stores in Los Angeles and Arizona, operated by the May Department Stores Co. His retail career began in 1976 at the O’Neil’s division of May Department Stores. His background includes a variety of merchandising and store management positions at Lord & Taylor and other May Co. divisions, and from 1991 until 1995, Lindblad was chairman and chief executive officer of the Children’s Collection, a chain based in Houston.
